Pollution Prevention Awards

Central Contra Costa Sanitary District presents the 2017 Pollution Prevention Awards

A Chance to Shine

Do you want recognition for preventing pollution? If so, apply for a Pollution Prevention Award from the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (CCCSD). The awards are presented at the Sustainable Contra Costa Awards Gala to businesses and organizations that have made outstanding efforts to prevent water pollution, including:

  • Changing products or processes to use fewer toxic materials
  • Using new technologies or procedures to keep contaminants from entering the sewer or storm drain system
  • Educating employees or the public about ways to prevent pollution

The Benefits of Participation

If your business is selected as a Pollution Prevention Award Winner, you will receive two complimentary tickes to the Sustainable Contra Costa Awards Gala on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Hilton Concord where you will be recognized for your award, and listed in the Gala program. You will also receive publicity through the CCCSD website and in the CCCSD Pipeline newsletter, which is mailed to more than 157,000 homes and businesses in central Contra Costa County.

Who's Eligible

Businesses and organizations located within CCCSD's service area are eligible. Organizations must have implemented pollution prevention programs in this area. Past award recipients are eligible only if new pollution prevention strategies have been added.

Award Criteria

Awards are based on the following criteria:

  • Commitment to pollution prevention
  • Reduction in pollutants discharged to the sewer or storm drain system
  • Level of achievement in educating employees, businesses, or the public about pollution prevention

The 2016 Pollution Prevention Awards were presented to the following businesses in recognition of their outstanding efforts to protect the local water environment by minimizing or eliminating harmful discharges into the sewer or storm drain systems:
