In November 2020, Central San transitioned from an at-large to an area-based election system which will be in effect for the 2022 election cycle. With the 2020 Census complete, the District reviewed the boundaries and reshaped the division map with the latest data as required and held a series of public hearings in the fall of 2021.

The purpose of the public hearing was to receive public input regarding the REDISTRICTING of Director Division map boundaries that were formed in the fall of 2020 that set a preliminary election boundary map and sequence. As mentioned above, the District reviewed the boundaries and reshaped the map as required with the latest data 2020 Census data through a similar hearing process.

At the conclusion of the November 18, 2021 public hearing, the Central San Board of Directors provided direction to the demographer and staff to finalize the “Purple Map” for final consideration and adoption at the December 2, 2021 Regular Board Meeting at 2:30 p.m.
