Whether you need to hook up a new sewer system, or want to learn more about pollution prevention or household hazardous waste we can help.

Overview

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility

Hazardous waste generated by residents and businesses can reach our waterways through runoff, sanitary sewers, storm drains, landfills, and can pollute our local water environment. The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Facility helps prevent this pollution through reuse, recycling, and proper disposal of hazardous waste.

Residents may drop off household hazardous waste at no charge, with no appointment needed.

Sewer Overflow Prevention

Keeping wastewater in the sewers is the job of Central San’s Collection System through cleaning, maintenance and repair of 1,500 miles of underground sewer lines. You can help by making sure that your side sewer – the connection from your home to the public sewer – remains free of any blockages.

This plan serves as a guide for the county to become more resilient to the impacts of natural, human-caused, and technological hazards.

In the 2024 update, Contra Costa County worked with over 40 participating agencies, including Central San.
