Sustainability, resilience, and equity are foundational to Central San’s Strategic Plan. To help measure our progress and meet our sustainability goals, Central San uses the Envision framework and rating system.  

Envision is a best practices framework that helps agencies like Central San plan, design, build, and operate more sustainable, resilient, and equitable infrastructure. The framework includes 64 criteria organized around five categories: Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate and Resilience.

Developed through a collaborative effort by several leading professional associations and administered by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, Envision has become the benchmark in the civil infrastructure industry. It’s used or recognized by over 200 cities, towns, counties, and public agencies across North America. As an Envision Supported Agency, Central San joins a group of leading agencies working to improve sustainability, resiliency, and equity in civil infrastructure.
